Our History

The business in Otley was purchased in 2015. A full renovation project was undertaken resulting in the purpose built showroom and vehicle workshop that is in use today. From 2015 to the present day the business has been operated by Luke and James Greenway together with our long established Sales Executive Paul Scaife. Paul has been a valued member of the Denton Team since first joining our Volkswagen business in 1991.

Our Skipton site was acquired in 1986 and traded as a Austin Rover Dealership. It was to be the start of new vehicle sales and working with a manufacturer for our chairman Frank Greenway. The business quickly developed and an excellent reputation gained in the local area. Frank was made a member of the Austin Rover 100 club for delivering an outstanding customer experience. As the business expanded a decision was taken to move to a newly-built bespoke dealership across the road adjacent to the current Skipton site and in 1993 an agreement was made with Volkswagen to be the representative for the Skipton area. 

The Volkswagen business known as White Rose Volkswagen soon outgrew the Skipton premises and a new location in Cross Hills was constructed and opened on 1st January 2000. The business continued its expansion increasing vehicles sales whilst delivering a personal customer experience. Frank was awarded for his outstanding contribution to the Volkswagen Brand receiving the coveted Volkswagen Diamond Pin award in 2008.

Joined in the business by his sons Luke & James Greenway in 2008, James joined initially as an apprentice technician and gained his Volkswagen accreditation as a Passenger Car Service Technician. James then moved into Aftersales looking after customers utilising his technical experience. Luke who joined from University having completed a Masters Degree in Strategic Automotive Management gained knowledge and experience working within all departments of the business- Sales, Aftersales and Finance. 

The Volkswagen business was sold in 2014. 

Our Skipton premises have been renovated and upgraded to manufacturer standards as we are delighted to have been awarded the Yorkshire area for the exciting new INEOS automotive brand. As we start this new journey with INEOS Automotive, we have been able to re-employ some key members of our previous teams across Sales and Aftersales in readiness for our first customer deliveries. Our Service Centre has opened both as a INEOS Grenadier Workshop alongside utilising the vast experience of our technicians to provide servicing, MOT’s and repairs across all makes and models of vehicles. 

The emphasis across both sites - Otley & Skipton remains the same. Family-values, personal-service delivering a hand-on unique customer experience with no compromise on quality. Like the INEOS Grenadier- Denton Cars is Built-on-Purpose.
